February was an exciting month for us, and not just because we celebrated the one-year anniversary of FiTS for iOS. We also attended the ISPO Munich, the world’s largest trade fair for the sports industry, and managed to prevail over almost 400 other applicants to secure a spot in the Digitize area. And we didn’t just deliver a convincing pitch to win second place in the Brandnew contest, which recognizes promising newcomers in the sports sector. No, we experienced something even better…

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk visited FiTS in the Digitize area! That was enough to fluster even seasoned professionals like our colleagues David and Björn. Even though Björn was super confident and professional in his delivery of the pitch that won us second place in the Top Tech-Startup category at the world’s largest trade fair for the sports industry, he was like a child on Christmas morning when Tony suddenly appeared before him in the flesh. Of course something like that doesn’t happen every day. But it does show that FiTS really is good for everyone.

Now back to the ISPO. The words “digital transformation” are on everybody’s lips, and even in the sports world of the ISPO Munich 2019, it was a trending topic. Since it debuted last year, ISPO Digitize has been considered a platform for trends and innovation where digital experts can share information on digital products, services, and market opportunities with sporting goods retailers and manufacturers.

This year, 87 percent of the exhibitors at the ISPO came from outside Germany, and almost 80,000 people visited the trade fair – impressive numbers. Our second-place finish in the Brandnew contest and our memories of meeting Tony Hawk will definitely count as some of the highlights of 2019!
